Organic Ethiopia Natural Sidamo

From the birth land of coffee comes this gorgeous natural Sidamo. This region produces both washed and natural coffees. What does 'natural' mean in the world of coffee? Simply this: no water was used to wash away the fruit pulp from the parchment skin during the extraction of the bean from the cherry. There is usually a significant taste difference between naturals and washed coffees...with the washed coffees from the same region generally presenting lighter in body than their dry-processed brothers. This particular coffee hails from the small garden lots of some 300 growers in the district of Dale in Sidamo region. The garden coffee system is widely practiced in this area, which means the coffee is grown near homesteads and planted at low densities. The varietal is Arabica Bourbon and it is grown at altitudes of 5740 - 6400 feet. Cupping Notes: Creamy and Medium bodied; with honey-sweet berry notes. Floral tones and aroma. See if you can detect the inherent cantaloupe flavors!
